About the School

Principal: Ms Nyandeni

Siyawela is located in a remote area slightly south of the Madadeni Township. It caters for Grades R – 7, aged 4 – 13yrs. With approximately 800 pupils enrolled it has smaller class sizes than some of our partner schools however it has still struggled with overcrowding due to small building sizes for the younger grades. Siyawela prides itself on being one of the best primary schools in the area and values it’s committed staff team.

Siyawela participated in the 2018 Choir Tour; they used funds from this tour to replace their old Grade R classrooms with larger and safer buildings for their youngest pupils. With their funds raised from the 2016 Choir Tour the school developed their school library, which was originally almost empty but now contains shelves, books, study desks and a comfortable seating area for their pupils. Siyawela would benefit from additional books in their library to help encourage their pupils reading however they are pleased with the progress made so far.

Partnership with Project Zulu has enabled Siyawela to install a reliable internet connection, laptops which learners can use, develop classroom infrastructure and further the skills of their educators. Siyawela greatly values the workshops which have been run developing English language, Maths and IT skills for their teachers.
