We are delighted to be welcoming our next choir of talented South African children to the UK in May 2025. This presents a fantastic opportunity for local Bristol hosts to open their hearts and homes to another inspirational choir.
The choir, comprising 20 children aged 11-14 years, will be leaving South Africa for the first time to travel to Bristol with their accompanying teachers. Over three weeks, they will tour the Southwest, showcasing their marvellous traditional Zulu song and dance in concert halls, churches, schools, and busy city centres.
Every penny raised will go back to their schools to improve educational facilities, including harnessing solar energy and installing learning and technology equipment to develop digital classrooms.
While in the UK, the choir and their teachers live in pairs with local hosts. Welcoming our guests into your home is a unique cultural and relational experience which creates memories and connections that can last a lifetime.
Ali Law, UWE Senior Lecturer in Education and 2023 Project Zulu host says:
“To any new hosts - I'd say grab the opportunity. It's a wonderful way to learn about new cultures whilst sharing our own, without having to travel! Watching our host children grow in terms of confidence throughout their time with us was amazing, and we really hope we can host again next time.”
Please take a look at the short film below featuring another of our wonderful 2023 host families and their very talented Project Zulu choir guests.
Whether you’re an experienced host or embarking on the adventure for the first time, we’d love to hear from you. Our incredible choir couldn’t tour without your support.
If you live in or around the Bristol area and want to learn more about the hosting opportunity, please email projectzulu@uwe.ac.uk to receive an information pack.
