Project Zulu shortlisted for Guardian University Awards 2019

The judges highlighted the project’s success in ‘broadening the horizons for all involved’, including the South African choir tour pupils, local children, host families, and student volunteers who took part in Township volunteering projects – nearly half of whom qualified for UWE Bristol’s means-tested bursary - and their South African host families.

Following the 2018 Township volunteering projects, and February UWE Bristol CPD visits, six academic research projects are now being undertaken as a result of Project Zulu. Funds raised by the project are helping to build a community sports field for all schools across Madadeni and there are plans to expand into new township schools.
