Postponement of 2020 Project Zulu Choir Tour

2020 Tour postponed until May 2021

Given the current Coronavirus situation and the recent escalations in the UK – including proposed school and University closures – UWE Bristol are minimising UWE staff and student travel. It is also the University’s responsibility to review travel plans for activity to the UK on behalf of UWE Bristol. The University has therefore taken the very difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Project Zulu Choir tour until a time when there are less restrictions on international travel and when we can be more assured that the tour will be safe, practical and a fundraising success.

Our partner schools in South Africa have agreed to postpone the tour until May 2021. We hope to be able to retain most of the Choir selected for this year and continue fundraising for the same school projects – the building of new classrooms. We also hope to reschedule as much of the currently agreed itinerary until 2021. If you have already purchased tickets for our finale concert at St. George’s, please contact the venue to arrange a full refund on the value of your ticket.

This is disappointing news for all involved but we hope that you are able to understand that this decision follows careful consideration of the potential risks involved to all parties (including choir members and South African school colleagues, host families, and the public), and extensive consultation with the relevant advisors at UWE Bristol.

We look forward to seeing you in 2021.

The Project Zulu Team
